Ephraim's History:
Ephraim’s father sadly died in June 2018 from complications from diabetes and high blood pressure. The responsibility of raising the children fell solely to his wife, Annet, who was operating a small retail shop out of the family home. Though she is quite industrious, the shop had little inventory and did not earn enough money to meet the large family’s needs, let alone provide extra for school fees. Her first born was forced to drop out of school after Senior Four, and the youngest had not yet attended school- all due to non-payment.
Ephraim's brother, Isaac Mugabi, is also a Children of Uganda student and one of our brightest boys.
Recently, Isaac’s family acquired a small piece of land. According to his mother, ownership of land and a house in town has contributed a lot towards the family economic empowerment because she is able to sell whatever she can grow, be her own boss, and not worry about rent. In addition to the vegetable stall she sells milk and fried pancakes. She is also joining our FASTrack program, and is well on her way to self-sufficiency and success!
About Ephraim:
Ephraim is a very bright boy who loves to play football with friends, but equally loves losing himself in a good book! He is happiest when learning something new. He hopes to become a doctor one day, and we are sure with his love of learning this dream can come true!
